As we know that AP = a+(n-1) d

In the qus 4 why there is written 12/2 and 35×2 why we have to multiply with 2 .. Becoz that's not the same as formula.

Hi Sneha,

here we see that the total distance travelled in 12 hours = 35 + 37 + 39 +...upto 12 terms.

this is nothing but an Ap with first term(a) = 35 and common difference(d) = 37-37 = 2

hence we are required to find the sum of the AP up to 12 terms.

formula to find the sum of AP up to n terms with the first term(a) and common difference (d) = [n/2(2a+(n-1)d)]

Hence the required distance = [12/2(2*35+(12-1)*2] = [6(70 +11*2)] = 6(70+22) = 552 kms

I hope this was helpful for you.

Happy learning!
